Universal Tartans This not a complete list of all the tartans from Scotland. Most people would be amazed that there are currently over 5,500 registered tartans, and more than 10,00 tartans total. So a complete list is nearly impossible as our partner The Scottish Tartans Authority can not keep up with it either. This is however a selection of the " Universal " tartans that we carry. There may be a few more out there , but we have the best looking of the bunch. These tartans can be worn by anyone of Scottish Heritage actually anyone for that matter. . Many family names do not have tartans , so don't feel alone. That is why we put this section together. Not all tartans are made in all weights. Most are available in lightweight for ties , scarves, and ladies skirts. Please contact us for a individual list of tartans available with each product.
