Corporate Tartans Traditionally tartans of Scotland were related to the Scottish Clans. Tartan popularity grew over the last two hundred years. In that time demand expanded tartans from Scottish Clans and families to organizations and companies. Many of the Scottish Single Malt distillers have had their own company tartans for decades. This has expanded to a world wide popularity of tartan. Like any brand or distinct identification a tartan can be the emblem or logo that identifies you and your organization. So how do I get started? Please understand that the design , production and eventual manufacture of tartan products is not a quick one. If it was easy, then it would not be so special. The design process alone can take time and then as it goes off to Scotland the wool is loomed into tartan fabric. It is then sent off to the kilt makers or made into ties, scarves and all the other wonderful things we make from tartan. Buy the way, this can also be done with a synthetic poly/viscose fabric for those that need a less traditional product. A tartan story from start to finish. With locations in Portland, Oregon, Seattle Washington and San Francisco, Kells Irish Pubs is probably one of the best known pubs on the West Coast. The St. Patrick celebrations are not to be missed. Kells even has their own pipe band that is headquartered in Portland. Brad Walker, Pipe Major of the Kells Pipes and Drums, approached us about kilts for the band. He needed twenty of them. Since they are an Irish band they were wearing a solid green kilt. They wanted a tartan, but what to pick? Our suggestion, why not a Kells tartan? Since the entire pipe band needed kilts we were able to incorporate the cost of the design process into the eventual total cost. Gerard McLeese, owner of Kells, was interested enough in the project that we eventually made ties for his wait staff , and scarves for sale in the Kells Gift Shop. at http://www.kellsirish.com/ and tell them we sent you.
