Ladies Highland Brooches

Solid pewter highland brooches. Available in high quality solid pewter or  pewter with a gold plate finish. Scotland may have a harsh climate but it yields some very beautiful images. The flower of Scotland, the thistle , and  the heraldic symbol of Scotland the rampant lion. Mythical images such as the unicorn have found their way into many of our jewelry pieces.  The story of the Luckenbooth is probably the most compelling.  Sold from "locked booths" (lukenbooths) on Edinburgh's Royal Mile, lovers exchanged these brooches on betrothal in the 1700's, and pinned them on babies' shawls for generations to protect them from "evil spirits".
